Historical Background...
Teen Challenge began in 1958 when Rev. David Wilkerson, author of The Cross and the Switchblade, went to New York City to reach teenage gang members with God’s love. There in the heart of the big city slums, Teen Challenge was born. Now there are over 130 Teen Challenge Centers in the United States and others internationally, helping not only teens but also adults with life-controlling problems, mainly in the area of drug and alcohol abuse.
Since 1988, Teen Challenge of Oklahoma has been combating the drug and alcohol problem in our state with amazing results.
Oklahoma Teen Challenge...
Began in 1988, and endeavors to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive. Each phase of Teen Challenge has a vital part in achieving this objective.
All of our Teen Challenge centers are available for school assemblies, civic and community organization meetings and church services.
Schools and various youth organizations will benefit from the message of making the right choices told by those who learned the hard way. This message is challenging and delivered creatively.
Churches can enjoy the dynamic music of the Teen Challenge choir and powerful testimonies of changed lives. Teen Challenge can come prepared to present the ministry in a portion of the service or they can be utilized throughout the entire service.
If you would like to visit one of the Teen Challenge facilities or would be interested in inviting Teen Challenge to your school, organization or church service, please contact the center.
